ABOUT US

Coffee has been my fascination since I pulled my very first espresso at 16. Something about it drew me in—the science, the art, the ritual, the way it connects people. It felt like more than a drink; it was a craft, a culture, and a conversation.

That curiosity led me down an untraditional path. In my twenties, I traded the conventional career ladder for the coffee world—travelling to Melbourne, San Francisco, and Portland to learn from the very heartlands of specialty coffee. At age 20, I entered the UK Barista Championships, an experience that deepened my respect for the skill and creativity behind every cup. I wanted to understand not just how coffee was made, but why it mattered.

My roasting journey began humbly, with a Gene Café home roaster that could handle just 200 grams at a time. From there, I set up a mobile bike café in Lincoln, before returning to London and joining some of the UK’s leading specialty coffee roasting companies—Perky Blenders, Ikawa, and Brew Coffee Plus. It was at Brew Coffee Plus where I pushed myself further, competing in the UK Roasting Championships and placing 6th, while refining my skills on a Diedrich IR-12.

Today, I roast on a RoastMax—an Australian-built machine with variable controls and precise data logging that lets me track every batch. Every coffee is tasted, cupped, and profiled to ensure it meets the standards I believe specialty coffee deserves: clarity, consistency, and character.

Cromford Coffee is the culmination of that journey—rooted in craft, guided by curiosity, and driven by a belief that great coffee should be fresh, ethical, and memorable. For me, it’s not just about roasting beans; it’s about honouring a ritual that has shaped my life and sharing it with others.

Our Coffee Journey

2011

FIRST BARISTA JOB IN LONDON

When moving to London to study music, alongside I started working at one of the capital's best coffee shops at the time - Notes Music and Coffee close to Trafalgar Square. Soon, coffee would become my passion and it soon overtook the music degree in terms of time spent on it! Later I worked at Prufrock, Association coffee and additional leading sites. I was royally hooked.
